Description

A simple yet impressive chocolate mousse cake that delights with rich flavors and a fluffy texture.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz dark chocolate
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs, yolks only
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 2 layers of chocolate cake (store-bought or homemade)
  • Chocolate shavings or berries for decoration

Instructions

  1. Melt the dark chocolate and set aside.
  2. Whisk egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy.
  3. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  4. Gently fold the melted chocolate into the egg mixture.
  5. Fold in the whipped cream until smooth.
  6. In a cake pan, place one layer of cake and spread a generous amount of mousse on top.
  7. Add the second cake layer and repeat with more mousse.
  8. Smooth the edges and top with extra mousse. Decorate with chocolate shavings or berries.
  9. Chill in the fridge for a couple of hours before serving.

Notes

For added indulgence, top with chocolate ganache made from heavy cream and chopped chocolate.
