A simple yet impressive chocolate mousse cake that delights with rich flavors and a fluffy texture.
Ingredients

- 8 oz dark chocolate
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 4 large eggs, yolks only
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- 2 layers of chocolate cake (store-bought or homemade)
- Chocolate shavings or berries for decoration
Instructions
- Melt the dark chocolate and set aside.
- Whisk egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy.
- Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
- Gently fold the melted chocolate into the egg mixture.
- Fold in the whipped cream until smooth.
- In a cake pan, place one layer of cake and spread a generous amount of mousse on top.
- Add the second cake layer and repeat with more mousse.
- Smooth the edges and top with extra mousse. Decorate with chocolate shavings or berries.
- Chill in the fridge for a couple of hours before serving.
Notes
For added indulgence, top with chocolate ganache made from heavy cream and chopped chocolate.
